It’s December 2025, and so the build to all the festivities are here, and soon it will be 2026.
But I know that 2026 is going to be radically different, for reasons we’ll get into.
In this episode I’m going to share some reflections about the cards life has dealt me; think of it like a year in review; looking back over dark times to connect the dots for what lies ahead.
It is my hope that whatever is going on in your life, this episode will spark something in you as you ponder 2026, wherever you are, whoever you are.
And I’m going to explore the past year as a divorced entrepreneurial father starting to think about love with radically changing priorities.

The shift in a balance of power
Pre-2024 these were the items that gave me strength when I left the house:
My wedding ring, which I rarely took off
A watch that my wife had given me as a gift
A leather wrist band that had three circular beads on, with the names of my wife and two children
After divorce, these became the items that gave me strength:
A watch inherited from my brother Simon (my rock and inspiration and wingman for most of my life)
There is still a leather band, but three beads with names are now just two; my sons
There is a new leather band that has a coiled string - this was a gift from last summer from my youngest son when we took a trip to Great Yarmouth
